THE WAY OF THE CROSS LEADS HOMETHE WAY OF THE CROSS LEADS HOME

In the world today, things are out of control and the masses are helpless. Mark 6:34 presents an apt picture of this situation, “And Jesus, when he came out saw much people, and was moved with compassion toward them, because they were as sheep not having a shepherd: and he began to teach them many things.” Today man is still roaming about like sheep without shepherd. Are you one of those? What are you doing about it? It is getting late, be sure who your shepherd is if you are a sheep.

In Exodus 12:13 the bible states, “And the blood shall be to you a token upon the houses where you are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.” Remember the children of Israel were getting ready to take their journey to the Promised Land. They had put the blood of the lamb as a token on the door of the houses where they were; God showed mercy as He passed by. Jesus Christ was the lamb in symbolism.

In Numbers 21:4-9, the children of Israel spoke against God. He sent fiery serpents among the people; many of them died. When the people repented of their sin, the Lord had compassion upon them. He instructed Moses to make a serpent of brass and set it on a pole. Whosoever looked upon the serpent on the pole after he had been bitten by a serpent lived. Jesus Christ in John 3:14-15 said, “And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.” Amen.

On the cross of Calvary Jesus Christ fulfilled this prophesy of been lifted up. “When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, IT IS FINISHED: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost” (John19:30). From then on, Jesus made a way for all mankind to take a safe journey home to heaven–whosoever will believe.

He painted his cross with his blood to make a way for us to enter into eternity. That has been the best news ever for all that are lost. He was born in a manger and died on a bloody cross to make a way of escape from this world of sin. Man is lost like sheep without shepherd. But Jesus came, the Good shepherd, the Bishop of our soul, Savior, Healer and Redeemer and showed us the way home.

As I listened to this moving song, “The way to the cross leads home,” I felt the comfort of the Lord.  God’s mercy was demonstrated through the blood of the lamb in Egypt. God’s mercy was demonstrated in the raising up of the serpent on a pole in the wilderness. God’s mercy was and is still shown on the Cross of Calvary for the lost sheep without a shepherd. At the Cross of Calvary the sheep found the Shepherd.

John 10:2-5 tells us, “He that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep; to him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice; and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out. And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice.” Jesus Christ is the Good Shepherd, the Door, the Truth and the Life. The way home to the Promised Land, heaven, is the Cross of Calvary on which Jesus Christ the Lamb shed his blood, and died for all who will believe in him. The way home is the CROSS. In order to find your way home to the Cross of Jesus Christ, you have to acknowledge that you are a sinner or backslidden believer, repent of your sins and you will be washed by his shed blood.  Ask Jesus Christ to come into your life today and make Him your Lord and Saviour. Get a good King James Version of the bible, ask for baptism and find a living church to attend. Let your life be centered on the true and pure word of God, not man’s dogmas. Baptism is by emersion and only in the name of Jesus Christ who died for you (Acts 2:38). Amen.

Jesus Christ in John 14:1-4 said, “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.” O! Good Shepherd, remember your sheep when your last trump sounds, as in 1st Cor. 15:51-58 and 1st Thess.4:13-18. The storms are coming sheep, run to the God Shepherd; the WAY HOME IS THE CROSS.
