NEITHER IS THERE SALVATION IN ANY OTHER NAME
According to Acts of the Apostles 4:12, “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” Men in this world reject and neglect the salvation of God because He made it free. In John 3:16 we read, “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” God, because of the love He had for us gave His only begotten Son. When He gave, He did because of His love for us and His assurance that it would be accepted or appreciated by you. Romans 5:8 states, “But God commendeth His love towards us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” It is a gift, because we cannot save ourselves. Neither is it by the works of righteousness which we have done. As written in Isaiah 64:6, “But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as a filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.”
You are drowning in the river of sin and cannot help yourself and time is running out on you in the fast, flowing rough water of sin. There are only two options for you according to John 3:18, “He that believeth on Him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.” The two options are accepting or rejecting Jesus Christ, the Gift and the only begotten Son of God.
Accepting the gift of God means accepting Jesus as Savior, Lord and Christ. These have meanings in the relationship between God and man:
- Savior is a person in a position to deliver or save another person or persons from ultimate danger. The greatest and ultimate danger to humanity is total separation from God. From the events in the Garden of Eden when Adam and Eve sinned against God by listening and taking the word of the Serpent in place of that of God. Genesis 3:1-13 tells the story especially verse 11; which states, “And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat.” This was a follow up of Genesis 2:17 where God told Adam, “But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shall not eat of it: for in the day thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.” So here man died, spiritually, which is separation from God. God’s visitation and communion with Adam and Eve in the garden was over. He drove them out of the Garden of Eden before they could put forth their hand and take of the tree of Life. But God had a plan to save man and reconcile man to God through Jesus Christ.
- Lord is master, one who has authority, influence and power over a person or people. The Lord has servants that obey and love him and are willing to give their lives for him. The Lord for the Christian is no other that the Lord Jesus who died on the cross of Calvary for them. He is Lord because He gave his life for the sake of the world but more so for His friends; according to John 15:13, “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” The Lord also did it in this manner as written in Romans 5:8, “But commendeth his love towards us, in that, while we were yet sinners Christ died for us.” Jesus became Lord because he paid the price for sin that He might reconcile and restore man to Himself. He is Lord. When you accept him as your Savior, you acknowledge that He came into the world and died on your behalf on the cross. You become His own and He becomes your Lord and Master. You live, walk work by His word, statutes, commandments, precepts and judgments. “Ye are bought with a price be not ye servants of men” (1 Corinthians 7:23). Jesus is your Lord if you accept and confess what He did for you on the cross.
- Christ is the anointed one. Jesus is the Christ. “Therefore, let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ” (Acts 2:36). Christ is the Omniscient Intelligence of God; omnipresent in every part and particle of creation. He is the Messiah. Jesus Christ is God. Luke 4:18 tells the story of the anointing, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed ( to do some supernatural work, the work of the Messiah) me to preach the gospel (salvation) to the poor, he hath sent me to heal the broken hearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised. To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.” Only Jesus, born of Virgin Mary of the Holy Ghost, is the anointed one, the Christ.
Salvation is the product of you, a sinner, accepting Jesus as your Savior, Lord and Christ. Despite the disappointment of Adam and Eve, God clothed them with coats of skin, instead of leaves which they used on themselves. The leaves Adam and Eve used to cover their nakedness is like you depending on your righteousness or your works or your own product to cover your sin. Sin can only be taken care of by holy blood as depicted in Revelation 5:3, “And no man in heaven, nor in earth, neither under the earth, was able to open the book, neither to look thereon.” It is the same as who is worthy to shed his blood on the cross. No man or any creation of God was found with the holy blood; only God’s blood. God is a Spirit according to John 4:2. Therefore God could not die to save man. So, he prepared a body Jesus, and came by him as God with us, to take away the sin of his people. He was anointed to do the supernatural and He went to the cross and shed His blood. Remember Revelation 5:6, “And I beheld, and lo, in the midst of the throne, and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent forth into all the earth.”
In Numbers 21:4-9, the children of Israel spoke against God. He sent fiery serpents among the people; many of them died. When the people repented of their sin, the Lord had compassion upon them. He instructed Moses to make a serpent of brass and set it on a pole. Whosoever looked upon the serpent on the pole after he had been bitten by a serpent lived. Jesus Christ in John 3:14-15 said, “And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.” On the cross of Calvary Jesus Christ fulfilled this prophesy of being lifted up. “When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, IT IS FINISHED: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost” (John19:30). From then on, Jesus made a way for all mankind to take a safe journey home to heaven–whosoever will believe.
He painted his cross with his blood to make a way for us to enter into eternity. That has been the best news ever for all that are lost. He was born in a manger and died on a bloody cross to make a way of escape from this world of sin. Man is lost like sheep without a shepherd. But Jesus came, the Good shepherd, the Bishop of our soul, Savior, Healer and Redeemer and showed us the way home to him. In John 14:1-3 Jesus said, I go to prepare a place for you and will come back to take you unto myself. You cannot go to that heavenly place with Him unless you know, believe and accept Him as your Savior, your Lord and your Christ.
As I listened to this moving song, “The way to the cross leads home,” I felt the comfort of the Lord. God’s mercy was demonstrated through the blood of the lamb in Egypt. God’s mercy was demonstrated in the raising up of the serpent on a pole in the wilderness. God’s mercy was and is still shown on the Cross of Calvary for the lost and backslidden. At the Cross of Calvary, the sheep found the Shepherd.
John 10:2-5 tells us, “He that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep; to him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice; and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out. And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice.” Jesus is the Savior, Lord, Christ, Good Shepherd, the Door, the Truth and the Life. The way home to God, is the Cross of Calvary on which Jesus Christ the Lamb shed his blood, and died for all who will believe in him; DO YOU NOW BELIEVE? The way out of sin is the CROSS. In order to find your way home to the Cross of Jesus Christ, you have to acknowledge that you are a sinner; for all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, (Romans 3:23). To the backslidden believer, the bible says in Jeremiah 3 :14, “Turn O backsliding children, saith the Lord; for I am married unto you.” Repent of your sins and you will be washed by his shed blood. Ask Jesus Christ to come into your life today and make Him your Lord and Saviour. Get a good King James Version of the bible, ask for baptism and find a living church (where they preach about sin, repentance, holiness, deliverance, baptism, the fruit of the Spirit, the translation, the great tribulation, the mark of the beast, the antichrist, the false prophet, hell, heaven, lake of fire, Armageddon, millennium, the white throne, the new heaven and new earth) to attend. Let your life be centered on the true and pure word of God, not man’s dogmas. Baptism is by emersion and only in the name of Jesus Christ who died for you (Acts 2:38). Find out who Jesus Christ truly is to the believers.
Jesus Christ in John 14:1-4 said, “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.” O! Good Shepherd, remember your sheep when your last trump sounds (1st Cor. 15:51-58 and 1st Thess.4:13-18).
The storms are coming sheep, run to the God Shepherd; the WAY BACK TO GOD IS THE CROSS. Repent and be converted. How shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation, Hebrews 2:3-4. Finally, it is good to remember Proverbs 9:10, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy (THE SAVIOR, LORD JESUS CHRIST) IS UNDERSTANDING.
