Who is Really the One Mediator?
A mediator is one who comes into a situation to speak, act and sacrifice on behalf of another who is considered the defaulter before a judge; who has power to condemn or show mercy. Mediation often involves a situation where a law has been broken, and sin is involved. Penalty can be death. In the history of mankind God has been several efforts to reconcile man to God after man died in the Garden of Eden when he disobeyed the commandment of God, Genesis 2:17. The sentence of death has reigned over man since then; and God has made several efforts to restore some good relationship with man. But the serpent continued to influence man and keep him away from God.
God did send angels to watch and help man but the angels could not get the job done. Men began to multiply on the face of the earth and the wickedness of man was great and every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually, Genesis 6:5. This was more than one can bear. If you created man, how would you feel? Genesis 6:6 tells us the mind of God on this issue:
“And it Repented the Lord that He had meade man on earth, and it grieved Him at His Heart”
This above statement is very telling of how God felt and what made him take steps to look for a mediator. God is a Spirit and cannot come face to face with man on this issue. The Lord also said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: YET HIS DAYS SHALL BE AN HUNDRED AND TWENTY YEARS. This is God putting the life span of man at 120years. This is in Genesis, when men lived for over 900years, but the clock of man’s lifespan started ticking at the word of God. God synchronized the human lifespan with the FLOOD OF NOAH, when God cleaned the earth and started the human race all over with 8 persons.
God sent selected men called messengers, prophets, priests, prophetesses and kings to talk to men about peace with him. Abraham, Moses, Elijah, Samuel, Isaiah, Ezekiel, Jeremiah David, Daniel and a lot of others. But it was mainly to the Jews and Gentiles were out in the cold with little or no spiritual light. God had his master plan for both Jews and Gentiles; this was the last effort to get man back to God. Moses was used of God to bring the Law or the commandments. This was to help man come closer to God and know how to conduct themselves. This commandment had no room and could not take man back to God. It was weak in that it could not give eternal life.
Men were still living over 110 years, some a little more, but in Psalms 90:10 King David prophetically wrote: “THE DAYS OF OUR YEARS ARE THREESCORE YEARS AND TEN; AND IF BY REASON OF STRENGTH THEY BE FOURSCORE YEARS, YET IS THEIR STRENGTH LABOUR AND SORROW; FOR IT IS SOON CUT OFF, AND WE FLY AWAY.” This tells us that God has put man’s span of life at 70years. Some may live longer for several reasons including God’s mercy. Important to God was the salvation of man, because at this time man was without hope. Eternal life was not introduced to man only the Jews had a chance, there was not yet a mediator; gentiles were enemies to God in every way. Sin had dominion over mankind.
Romans7: 5-25, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruits unto death.-that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.-I had not known sin, but by the law,–for I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died. The commandment, which was ordained to life, I found to be unto death..the Law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.—if then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good.-I find then a law, that when I would do good, evil is present with me. But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.
“O Wretched Man that I am, Who Shall Deliver me from the body of this death?” Romans 6:24 ”
There is ONE MEDIATOR, not two or three or more. To be a mediator you must know all the facts about God, all the facts about man and all the possible consequences. The mediator must be committed, fair in judgment, full of love, kind, longsuffering and merciful. What more commitment can we compare to 1st Timothy 2:6 THE MAN CHRIST JESUS WHO GAVE HIMSELF A RANSOME FOR ALL, to be testified in due time. God had tried every way to reconcile with man but it all failed and at best was temporary. God needed a lasting solution, a people who really love him and love one another; people who will take him at his word. God made all his solutions easy and simple to participate and attain.
In St. John 3:16,which reads, FOR GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD, THAT HE GAVE HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON THAT WHOSOEVER BELIEVETH IN HIM SHOULD NOT PERISH BUT HAVE EVERLASTING LIFE.
Colossians 1:21
The Son knows the mind of the Father towards man. The Son knows man, because in St. John 2:24-25, it reads-he knew all men, and needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man. All things were created by him and through him even man, and for his good pleasure; Colossians1:16-19. Man disobeyed God and sin has had dominion over man, since the Garden of Eden. God had a seven years plan for man before eternity will catch up with the chosen ones.
The sixth day is nearing its end, which is actually 6000 man years. Separation is coming; deliverance (TRANSLATION) and judgment are near. Man is in need of help, a mediator between the creator and the creature (man). Man stands condemned because of sin. The end of the judgment is known LAKE OF FIRE, FINAL AND TOTAL SEPARATION FROM GOD; REVELATIONS 20:15. Make use of the mediator because the end will be terrible and the will be no way out and no one can help. The hour of the mediator is NOW, and your hour is NOW when you are alive and can make your request known to God.
The mediator is one who can hear God’s case about man. The mediator is one who knows the relationship between man and God, who made who, and for what purpose, who fell short or sinned. The mediator is one who understands the damaged relationship, separation and even death of the relationship between God and man. Man died but the mediator has the good news. God had set a standard and nobody was found able to meet the mark. The mediator understood the demand and was willing to meet the demand; to save mankind and meet the demands of God. Colossians 1:21 states, and you that were sometimes alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled to God.
The mediator to show he means business must meet the demands of God for this enormous reconciliation for helpless humanity. This mediator put his life on the line so that God will see his sacrifice of his blood and life and not the sin and death reigning over humanity. Hebrews 9:14-15 how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
“And For this cause he is the mediator Of the New Testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of Eternal Inheritance.”
Almost all things are by the law purged with BLOOD; and WITHOUT SHEDDING OF BLOOD IS NO REMISSION. Hebrews 9:19, Moses took the blood of calves and of goats, with water, and scarlet wool, and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book, and all the people. Verse 23 states, that it was therefore necessary that the patterns of things in the heavens should be purified with these; BUT THE HEAVENLY THINGS (this includes the salvation of the lost who accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior) THEMSELVES WITH BETTER SACRIFICE (THE BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST) THAN THESE, the blood of bulls and goats, under the Old Testament. For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh, on the earth. This has to be done yearly for sin. But Hebrews 9:27 states, that ONCE IN THE END OF THE WORLD HATH HE (CHRIST JESUS) APPEARED TO PUT AWAY SIN BY THE SACRIFICE OF HIMSELF.
Jesus Christ is the mediator between God and all of humanity. He came to earth conceived of the Holy Ghost in the womb of Mary, Matthew 1:23, Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. Verse:11 states, and when they were came into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him. Matthew 3:13,Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him. Then the devil leaveth him and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him, Matthew 4:11. For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes. Matthew 9:35 And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. In St. Luke 16:23-26 Jesus talked about the consequences of sin and the destination of all who reject Jesus Christ the sacrifice of God. He said, and in HELL the rich man lifted up his eyes in HELL, being in torments,—asked for Lazarus to dip his finger in water that perhaps a drop may reach his lips and cool my tongue, for I am tormented in this flame. This confirms that the mediator knows the consequences of sin, and the desire of God to save man.
St. John 1:14
In Matthew 17:22-23 while they abode in Galilee, Jesus said unto them, “THE SON OF MAN SHALL BE BETRAYED INTO THE HANDS OF MEN: AND THEY SHALL KILL HIM AND THE THIRD DAY HE SHALL BE RAISED AGAIN”
Jesus foretold his journey to the cross through Gethsemane, the scourging post (by his stripes we have been healed) to the CROSS for crucifixion, and He gave himself freely for mankind. In St. John 2:19, Jesus said DESTROY THIS TEMPLE, AND IN THREE DAYS I WILL RAISE IT UP. In the book of St. John 10:15-18
We read —-“I LAY DOWN MY LIFE FOR THE SHEEP— NO MAN TAKETH IT FROM BUT I LAY IT DOWN OF MYSELF. I HAVE POWER TO LAY IT DOWN, AND I HAVE POWER TO TAKE IT AGAIN.”
Jesus died on the CROSS paying the price for the sins of humanity, and in St. John 19:30 JESUS SAID IT IS FINISHED: and He bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.
When Jesus rose from the dead he appeared unto his disciples, and said in Mark 16:15-16 unto them, go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. HE THAT BELIEVETH AND IS BAPTIZED SHALL BE SAVED; BUT HE THAT BELIEVTH NOT SHALL BE DAMNED. In St. John 3:18 Jesus said, He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation. The only mediator, between God and man; including YOURSELF is Christ Jesus; who liveth, to make intercession for us. Jesus Christ fulfilled and paid the price for the penalty for sin and death. That through death he might he might destroy him that had the power of death; that is the devil. AND DELIVER THEM WHO THROUGH FEAR OF DEATH WERE ALL THEIR LIFETIME SUBJECT TO BONDAGE. Hebrews 2:15.
There is only one GOD and Deuteronomy 6:4 reads, hear o Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord. In Isaiah 43:3 it reads for I am the Lord thy God, the Holy One of Israel thy Saviour. In Isaiah 46:9-10 it reads Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God and there is none like me, declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times (including the events at the Garden of Eden) the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure. In St. John 5:43, I came in my Father’s name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name him (Satan) will ye receive. Jesus Christ came in his Father’s name, not his own name, and the name of the Father is JESUS CHRIST. Emmanuel meaning God with us, Matthew 1:23.
God is the Father of all creation; He is God because He is worshipped. God cannot die, but to save man He needed the shedding of innocent blood, but all have sinned and come short of the glory of God, Romans 3:23. In the beginning was the WORD, the WORD was with God, and the WORD was God,– and the WORD was made flesh (JESUS CHRIST) and dwelt among us; St. John 1: 1-14. That God hath made that same JESUS, whom ye crucified both Lord and Christ. So God took the form of man that He may test death for man. Remember that God cannot die, for God is a Spirit. God only died in the person of Jesus Christ, because God became flesh, walked and worked as all men on the earth; but without sin. He made himself known to those who would listen that he was on earth for man, some people believed called disciples. You can become a disciple too because in St. John 17:20, “Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word.” When you accept and do this (BELIEVE) you have the grace of having the mediator, JESUS CHRIST.
God is a Spirit and has no beginning or ending. He was flesh and died on the cross and rose again, and returned to heaven. In Revelations 1:8 JESUS CHRIST states, “I AM ALPHA AND OMEGA, THE BEGINNING AND THE END.” IN REVELATIONS 1:18 JESUS CHRIST SAID FEAR NOT; I AM THE FIRST AND THE LAST; I AM HE THAT LIVETH,(present tense) AND WAS DEAD (God died in Jesus Christ in the flesh) AND BEHOLD, I AM ALIVE FOR EVERMORE,AMEN, AND HAVE THE KEYS OF HADES AND DEATH.
This tells all humans that GOD IS THE WORD THAT BECAME FLESH, JESUS CHRIST. GOD CAN MANIFEST HIMSELF IN MANY WAYS, AS THE FATHER, AS THE SON, AS THE HOLY SPIRIT, AS MELCHIZEDEK AND ALSO AS THE MEDIATOR, JUDGE AND ADVOCATE. If you have JESUS CHRIST you have it all. He is seated as the judge and stands as your advocate and you cannot lose if you from the heart follow ACT OFTHE APOSTLES, 2:38, “Repent, and be baptized, everyone of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. THE WORD IS GOD, THE JUDGE; THE WORD BECAME FLESH, GOD WITH US, JESUS CHRIST; JESUS CHRIST IS THE WORD, THAT IS GOD THAT BECAME FLESH AND IS THE ONLY MEDIATOR BETWEEN GOD AND MAN.
