A QUIET MOMENT WITH GOD
LOVING THE LORD IS SIMPLE. HOWEVER, SOMETIMES WE CAN STRUGGLE WITH READING AND UNDERSTANDING GOD’S MESSAGE TO US. THIS BIBLE PLAN IS DESIGNED TO BE A DAILY GUIDE THROUGH GOD’S WORD, HIS PROMISES AND HIS DESIRES FOR OUR FUTURE, BOTH ON EARTH AND IN HEAVEN, AS TRUE BELIEVERS, Study – (Psalm 119:105).
WEEK # 4
Prayer is very important, in that it helps us draw closer to God. The more we spend time with Him, the more we get to know him, (James 4:8). Do not attempt to hide anything from God; you cannot do so, even in prayer, because he knows all things.

Prayer of faith | Matt. 6:1-15
Remember the song, “Leave it there.” |
Every true believer should make prayer and faith a business with God for success and victory in the world. Remember, David in Psalm 55:17, “Evening, and morning and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice.” For faith and prayer to be valid, must be anchored on God’s promises. | Matt. 6:24-34 | Prayer has 4 elements: Confessing, Receiving, Worship, Praises and heartfelt thanksgiving to God.
Think about your relationship with God. When was the last time you were involved in these Elements of prayer. Were you ever thankful to God today? Many went to bed last night but some were found dead today. |
Psalm 33:18, “Behold the eye of the Lord is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy.”
Matt. 6:6, “When thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.” |

The need for prayer | Gen. 15:1-18
Jeremiah 33:3 Remember the song, “Pass me not O gentle Savior.” |
Prayer involves the lesser looking up to the greater. The creature looks up to the creator. Those who are faced with problems look up to the problem solver and the author of solutions. He who speaks and it comes to pass. Remember Psalm 50:15. Learn how to overcome situations with God, in prayers. | Dan. 6:1-27
Dan. 6:10 (meditate on this). |
In prayer, we not only pray for our sins, the defilement of our soul; but pray not only for pardon and mercy but also for purity of heart, joy and peace of holiness and to be in restored and constant communion with God, by and through faith and love of the truth of the word of God, as contained in the scriptures. | Dan. 6;22, “My God hath sent his angel, and hath shut the lions’ mouth, that they have not hurt me: for as much as before him innocency was found in me: and also before thee, O king, have I done no hurt.”
Dan. 6:23, “So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no manner of hurt was found upon him, because he believed in his God.” |

Jesus Christ prayed | Matt. 26:36-46
Remember the song, “Jesus paid it all.” |
God came to earth as man, had difficult times; like temptation in the wilderness, and the cross of Calvary, but the toughest was the battle at Gethsemane. Here his disciples slept on him instead of praying along with him. Vain is the help of man. Jesus Christ came into contact with the weight of our sins, of all men. He talked about this cup passing from Him; but He knew what was at stake; the hope of Salvation for man. He said, to God in prayer, “ O my Father — Thy will be done.” Here He won the battle on his knees in prayer for us. | Luke 22:39-53 | In prayer from a sincere heart, God hears, God sends angels when needed to help and encourage the person.
Jesus prayed some earnestly that his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground; because of the sins of the world including ours that need to be paid for by holy blood. When did you ever pray that way? Sin must be paid for and Jesus paid for it. Study Hebrews 2:3, “How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation.” |
Psalm 34:7, “The angel of the Lord encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.”
Matt 26:41, “Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing but the flesh is weak.” Psalm 34:8, “O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.” Psalm 31:24, “Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the Lord.” |

Prayer that has kept believers today | John 17:1-26
Remember the song, “ Great is thy faithfuness.” |
Many true believers today are good prayer warriors but I wish to remind us all that Our Lord Jesus Christ prayed for us who will believe in Him through the words of the apostles. These apostles testified unto us what they saw and heard from Jesus Christ. Jesus had us on his mind when he made the prayer as stated in verse 15. The strength of our prayer today as believers hinged on the prayer the Lord made covering everyone that would believe the word or writings of the apostles. | Acts 9:1-18 | It is always important to remember that no man ever has a first son before his own father. So every believer must remember that before they started to pray someone somewhere had been praying for them. Like the prayers of secret intercessors, of different preachers, grandparents and parents and several others. Remember Jesus also already prayed for those who will believe.
Remember that prayer is always to be offered in submission to God’s will. |
Psalm 139:23-24, “Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.”
John 17:20, “Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word.” |

God answers prayers of faith | 2nd Kings 20:1-11
Nehemiah 1:1-11 Remember the song, “Hold to God’s unchanging hand.” |
Isaiah the prophet came to king Hezekiah and told him, “ to set his house in order; for thou shall die and not live.”
What would you do if a vindicated prophet of God came to you with such a message? Hezekiah turned his face to the wall, and prayed unto the Lord, he remembered his testimony with God and wept sore. Do you have testimonies with God, have you worked before God in truth and with a perfect heart. In verse 5-6, God said I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will heal thee: on the third day thou shalt go up unto the house of the Lord. And I will add unto thee 15 years. |
1st Samuel 1:1-18 | Prayer can be loud or quiet, God hears all. Your heart is what God is looking at. He sees your thoughts and motives as you pray. Remember Heb. 4:12, “For the word of God (Jesus Christ) is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrows, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” Hannah poured out her soul to the Lord to the point her lips were moving with no audible words. She was in the spirit and her prayer came before God confirmed to God by the words of Eli in verse 17. | Job 42:2, “I know that thou canst do everything, and that no thought can be withheld from thee.”
Psalm 119:49, “Remember thy word unto thy servant, upon which thou hast caused me to hope.” Nehemiah 1:5, “I beseech thee, O Lord God of heaven, the great and terrible God, that keepeth covenant and mercy for them that love him and observe his commandments.” |

When you pray remember; How to pray | Matt.6: 5-8
1st Peter 5:1-12 Remember the song, “Just a closer walk with thee.” |
Jesus admonished us that when we pray, we should not make it an open show as the hypocrities, making every one to know and notice us in our secret moments of prayer. We should enter into our closet, shut the door, pray to your Father and confess any sins and shortcomings (not through any man, no matter who and how religious they are; for man can neither forgive sins nor answer your prayers. Your Father who seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
Do not use vain repetitions. Remember God is in heaven and you are on earth, but He knows what you need, before you ask Him. Most important in prayer is John 14:14, “If ye shall ask anything in my name, I will do it.” Every prayer you make must end by you saying, “In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.” The name of authority seal of approval in prayer. |
Psalm 25:1-22 | David in Psalm 25 ,prayed from the soul, he confessed his total trust in the Lord his God. He prayed for God to show him his ways and to teach him his paths. Also prayed God to show him mercy and remember not the sins and transgression of his youth | Isaiah 65:24, “And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking I will hear.”
1st Peter 5:7, “Casting all your care upon him: for he careth for you.” |

Confidence in prayer of faith standing on the promises of the word of God. | Rom. 8:1-27
(Remember the song; What a friend we have in Jesus). |
Why pray if you do not expect an answer? But before you pray, you must know who you are praying to. Are you in a relationship with him by salvation? This is absolutely necessary for your confidence in prayer, to be assured of an answer. When you pray you must remind God of his word and promises on which you are depending, (Psalm 119:49). Without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him, (Heb. 11:6). | Heb.10: 23-39
Remember the song, “Leaning on the everlasting arms.” |
Prayer, if it is sincere, is the result of a work of grace in your heart.
“For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers.” 1st Peter 3:12; Psalm 34:15. Isaiah 1:18, “Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.” When you are praying remember, you have a mightier one than you, praying with you, (He that is in you is greater than he that is in the world). |
John 14:14, “If ye shall ask anything in my name, I will do it.”
James 4:3, “Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lust.” Matt. 6:8, “Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.” Rom. 8:26. “Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.”
