The ancient biblical prophets declared that Jesus Christ, who lived in Palestine over two thousand years ago, will come back to Earth again. When this happens, it will be the greatest event that has happened since He left. There are historical facts that authenticate the prophets’ declaration of Christ’s returning to Earth again. The following, which pertains to His first coming, are just some of such historical facts: The Scriptures of the prophets declared the event of Christ’s first coming to the world many centuries before it actually took place. They foretold that Christ would come as a humble Babe; and that His mother would be a virgin: Isaiah 7:14 Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel. Isaiah 9:6 for unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given: and the government shall be upon His shoulder: and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, and The Prince of Peace. They foretold the very city in which He would be born: Micah 5:2 But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting. They predicted, with absolute accuracy, many aspects of His ministry: Isaiah 61:1-2 The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD. (Please read Luke 4:17-21). His death, burial and resurrection were also similarly predicted with absolute accuracy. The Scriptures even gave the time of His death (Daniel 9:24). All of these events came to pass just as the Scriptures said they would. Since these prophecies accurately foretold that Jesus would come the first time to give His life as a ransom for mankind, it should stand to reason that these same Scriptures that declared that Christ will come again – this time to be revealed in glory – would be accurate, too. Since they were right with the predictions of His first coming, we can be assured that they are also right with the prediction that He will come again. This then should become a matter of supreme importance for all men. While on earth Christ gave many reasons why He had to go back to Heaven. For one thing, He would go to prepare a place for those who would believe on Him, a place where they would dwell forever. Christ, who spoke of Himself as the Bridegroom, is going to return to take these chosen people with Him back to Heaven. They are a company of true Christians who love Him and who are to become His Bride. Here are His very words: John 14:2-3 I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto Myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. One of the many reasons why Christ would return to take His Bride from the earth is the terrible conditions that this world is to face for rejecting Him as the only one and true Savior of the world (John 4:42; I John 4:14). For the rejection of Christ, God would permit a false Christ – the antichrist, to rise upon the earth (John 5:43). It will be a time of great uncertainty and confusion upon the earth when the antichrist rises. During the first three and half years of his reign, the antichrist will put down anarchy, but at the price of the loss of individual liberty. He will cause craft to prosper (Daniel 8:25), and thus gain popularity with the masses. This will also be at the price of personal liberty, for the hour will come when no man may buy or sell, save he has the mark (Revelation 13:16-18). During the last three and half years of the reign of the antichrist, there will be upon the earth what Christ described in: Matthew 24:21-22 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: Christ did not give the exact date of His return, but He gave many signs, too numerous to list here that will herald it. Nearly all of those signs are either already fulfilled or in the process of fulfilling; indicating that He will soon return. His return will be the greatest event the world has ever seen since He ascended to Heaven. Christ, the Bridegroom, is waiting for His Bride to be completed. Will you, dear reader, accept His call to be among the select number when He comes? Revelation 22:17 And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely
