THE PLAGUE WAS STAYED
What is a plague by definition, you may ask? A plague is anything that afflicts or troubles. A calamity, scourge, any contagious epidemic disease that is deadly, like bubonic or corona virus plagues, a nuisance. In the bible when they occur it is often as divine punishment as in Ex.9:14, Num. 16:46. The plagues in Egypt was caused by the evil treatment of the Egyptians against the Israelites: who cried out unto God (Exod. 3:3-19). God heard their cries and sent Moses to tell Pharaoh, “ Let my people go,” (Exod. 9:1). Repentance and turning to God stays the plague.
This led to the plagues in Exodus Chapters 7 – 11. God sent several plagues and finally the death of every first born (Exodus 11:1-12), verses 5-6, “And all the first born in the land of Egypt shall die, from the first born of Pharaoh that sitteth upon his throne, even unto the first born of the maidservant that is behind the mills; and all the first born of beasts. And there shall be a great cry throughout the land of Egypt, such as there was none like it, nor shall be like it anymore.” This was the last plague in Egypt before the children of Israel were thrust out on their journey to the Promise Land. God stayed the plague of slavery for the children of Israel. Remember they had to kill the pass over lamb, use the blood, and eat the lamb before living Egypt for good. The plague of slavery was stayed for the Israelites. Repentance and turning to God stays the plague.
In Genesis 12:11-20, Pharaoh and his house were plagued because of taking Abraham’s wife: Verse 17 reads, “And the Lord plagued Pharaoh and his house with great plagues because of Abraham’s wife. And with the plague Pharaoh immediately returned to Abraham his wife; and commanded his men concerning him: and they sent him away, and his wife and all that he had. And the plague was stayed.
God stayed the plague in NUM. 16:1-50 when the children of Israel in company of Korah, Dathan and Abiram went against Moses and Aaron: The earth opened up and swallowed up Korah and many others and in verse 35, there came out fire from the Lord and consumed the two hundred and fifty men that offered incense. In verse 46 Moses told Aaron to take incense and quickly run to the congregation and make an atonement for them: for there is wrath gone out from the Lord; and the plague was begun. Verse 48 said, “And he stood between the dead and the living and the plague was stayed.” It was stayed.
According to 2nd Samuel 24, king David sent Joab the captain of the host to go and number the nation of Israel. Joab objected, but the king’s order prevailed. As Joab went out and came back with Israel numbered. And David regretted numbering the people ( verse 10, And David’s heart smote him). And He said, Lord I have sinned greatly, in that I have done. God had mercy and sent the prophet Gad to David with 3 options for justice and He chose to fall into the hand of God with the plague judgment. In three days, God killed seventy thousand Israelites. And in verse 25, David built and altar unto the Lord where the angel stopped the killing; and offered burnt offering and peace offering to the Lord. So, the Lord was entreated for the land, and the plague was stayed from Israel.
Numbers 25:1-13 and Psalms 106:30, tell us about Phinehas, the man whom the Lord testified of saying, “He hath turned my wrath away from the children of Israel.” This plague was because the children of Israel joined themselves to Baal-peor, the god of the Moabites, and committed whoredom, and joined in the sacrifices of their gods; and the anger of the Lord was kindled against Israel and the plague started with the killing of all those joined to Baal-peor. In verse 8, “And he (Phinehas) went after the man of Israel into the tent, and thrust both of them through, the man of Israel, and the (Midianitish) woman through her belly. So, the plague was stayed from the children of Israel.” Sin exists, where God is taken out of the schools, many gods are worshipped, idol worship, killing of unborn children and taking any form of human life, man’s inhumanity, wickedness and false worship of the true God (Jesus Christ) ; all these warrant God’s wrath and subsequent plagues. These plagues cannot be solved by vaccines; only Jesus Christ can wash your sins and give divine inoculation against the evils that bring down these plagues. Repentance is the beginning of getting the Lord to stay, even your personal plagues.
The oldest plague in human history is the plague of sin. Sin affects man, in so many ways and death is a consequence of it. Jesus Christ came into the world and preached about how to stay the plague of death. He said, “I am the resurrection and the life (John 11:25), I have the keys of hell and death (Rev. 1:18) and All power is given unto Me in heaven and in earth (Matt.28:18.)” Jesus Christ preached salvation to the world, gave His name for power (Mark 16: 15-18) and the only power that that can stay the plague of death, and all plagues through sin. The believer who has being born again through confession of sin and washing by the blood of Jesus Christ; has the plague of death through the sin of unbelieve stayed. According to 1st Corinthians 15:55-57, death has a sting, and the sting of death is sin; but Jesus Christ came and died on the cross to pay for sin and remove the sting of death. The sting of the plague of death remains of men, until they in repentance and confession and accept the finished work of Christ Jesus on the Cross of Calvary. When you accept the Lord Jesus Christ the plague of death, sin and sickness is stayed for you. The plague is stayed. Turn to Jesus Christ today and stay your plague.
In times of ignorance God overlooked, and many will be judged by the light they have; but today many have no excuse. Today there is no denial of who the Godhead is about. If you claim ignorance or refuse to accept the truth or go to God in prayer to find the correct answer, then you cannot be excused for believing the wrong thing. The great tribulation is a hard class to attend because you may be exposed to things that God may not intervene in your situation. You must know who it is that has all power to stop the plague and judge you righteous. You need to know who Jesus Christ really is and be sure of the Godhead; then you can be sure who can stay the plague. You must be born again first, to get this benefit. 1st John 2:2, Jesus Christ is the propitiation for our sins: not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world (also Heb 9:14). The plague of sin was taken care of according to John 19:30, And Jesus Christ said, It is finished. Repentance and turning to God stays the plague of death.
