By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God (Hebrews 11:5). And it came to pass, as they (Elijah and Elisha) still went on, and talked, that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven (II Kings 2:11),

Thereafter, Elisha ministered in the spirit of Elijah – And when the sons of the prophets which were to view at Jericho saw him, they said, The spirit of Elijah doth rest on Elisha (II Kings 2:15). John the Baptist also ministered in the spirit of Elijah – And he shall go before Him (Christ) in the spirit and power of Elias (Luke 1:17).

Of the believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, we are told that Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are (James 5:17). This will indicate, among other things, that God is now raising up a people of faith who will go forth in the spirit of Elijah to proclaim the Gospel of the supernatural in these closing days of the age. God is now making ready a people in this generation (the Elijah Saints) who will be prepared for the Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ. The Elijah saints will walk with God like Elijah and Enoch. Their lives will be simple lives like that of Elijah. They will not be entangled with the affairs of this life (II Timothy 2:4).

The ruling passion of their lives will be to be in communion with God, hear His voice and to be jealous for God’s honor and His Kingdom (I Kings 19:10,14). They will be people of simple habits and simple tastes. As the entire ministry of Elijah was characterized by the miraculous, the Elijah saints will believe in the supernatural,

By being fed supernaturally by the ravens that God sent him; and at another time by an angel; and yet at another time preserved alive in the house of a widow who had supplies for only one last meal; Elijah, in his simple trust in God, fulfilled the words that the Lord Jesus Christ would

tell men centuries later-Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not life more than meat, and the body more than raiment? Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? (Matthew 6:25-26).

The three years of famine in Elijah’s day may well be a type of the Great Tribulation. But assuredly, God will take care of His own even as He did for Elijah. Neither devil, beast, Antichrist nor any creature can overcome the faith of those that are Elijah saints.

At last, Elijah was living nearer to heaven than he was on earth. It was not a strange thing then that one day, a celestial chariot came a little closer than usual and took Elijah the rest of the way. So shall the Elijah saints be caught away from this world. Only that this time around, the Lord Jesus Christ Himself shall descend from heaven, the dead in Christ shall rise first, and together with these Elijah saints will be caught up to meet the Lord Jesus Christ in the air (I Thessalonians 4:16-17). But there is ongoing work that has to be completed (Matthew 24:14). Let us put our all to it. For yet a little while, and He that shall come will come, and will not tarry (Hebrews 10:37). Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh (Matthew 24:44). Even so, come, Lord Jesus (Revelation 22:20), AMEN.
