Separation from the world
The unbelievers are separated from God both spiritually and in terms of relationship. God owes the unbeliever nothing. But if by faith, you acknowledge you are a sinner and come before God in repentance and accept that Jesus Christ died for you; He will wash your sins away and a relationship begins, not a religion. That is a vow, by accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and are committed to His word of the Holy Scriptures. You forsake your old ways of sin and lordship of satan over you. You accept and are brought into the righteousness of God through the finished work of Jesus on the Cross of Calvary. When you are saved you are part of the bride elect, married to Christ and will be made official in the marriage supper of the Lamb. There is a vow between the believer and Christ, we take on His name and belong to him by vow of commitment. In Psalm 50:5, it reads, “Gather my saints together unto me (translation); those that have made a covenant with me by sacrifice, (my blood shed and death on the Cross).” Jesus used his own body as the sacrifice for sin and reconciliation; for all who believe and accept, all Jesus Christ did for the world with his life. A covenant is like a vow in some respect. When you make a solemn promise to following Jesus Christ, is a vow for the true believer. I consider it a covenant because that gives the believer a legal authority to deal with the devil and act within the legal parameters of the court of heaven. Jesus Christ made it all possible and we accept it.
When you belong to Christ Jesus, you are a marked person by the devil, because of the glory of God engulfing you. “Know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? Whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God,” (James 4:4). He who is in friendship with this world is an enemy of Christ; you can see the need for a separation from the world. Always remember the substance of your relationship with God. Rom. 8:35, 38-39, reads, “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Only sin, which we allow and indulge in, through our lusts; can separate us from God, through the manipulation of the devil, who is the god of this world, (2nd Cor. 4:4). When you are in friendship with the world you are automatically in friendship with the god of this world. You cannot serve God and mammon, you will love one hate the other, (Matt. 6:24). But remember Deut. 11:16, “Take heed to yourselves, that your heart be not deceived, and ye turn aside, and serve other gods and worship them.” There are many gods today that manipulate people and even believers. Top on the line of these new gods are technology, computers, money, religion, gurus, and many more. These are modern, man made gods that are worshiped today in place of God the creator, in many quarters, by satan’s influence.
There is a need for a true believer in God to separate himself or herself from the world. You are in the world but not of the world, (John 17: 15-16), and (1st John 2:15-17). We are pilgrim and strangers to this world and its system. We look for a heavenly city made by God, (Heb11:13-16). This separation is for those who know that they have been redeemed by the atoning and precious blood of Jesus Christ. The Lord came to earth and left us a footprint and all we have to do is to walk in those footprints and we cannot be separated from Him. If we stray we need to repent and walk once again in His footprint. All we have to do is walk in the spirit and we shall not be separated from Him like Adam did through sin. Sin brings separation from God and a breaking of the vow of separation.
According to 2nd Cor.6:17-19, “ Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty. Having therefore these promises dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, (works of the flesh, Gal. 5:19-21) perfecting holiness, (Gal. 5:22-23, fruit of the spirit) in the fear of God.” Separate yourself from the world if you are saved and washed by the blood of Jesus Christ the Lord.
