WHOSOEVER LOVETH AND MAKETH A LIEWHOSOEVER LOVETH AND MAKETH A LIE

A lie is a statement made by one who does not believe it, with the intention that someone else may be led to believe it. This is deceit. There is so much going on in the world today that it often clouds peoples’ judgment. One of the crucial areas is in the area of telling the truth. When you fail to tell the truth, then you are telling a lie. You may ask, what is a lie? To make the definition easy for us all, we shall simplify it by saying that it is the distortion of a fact, not abiding in the truth, falsehood, deception and much more. When you lie, you are called a liar. The bible says that the devil is a lair and the father of it (St. John 8:44).

In Genesis 3:4 the serpent told the first recorded lie, “the serpent said unto the woman, ye shall not surely die.” That was contrary to the truth as God spoke it in Genesis 2:17 which reads, “—for the day thou eatest thereof, thou shalt surely die.” Genesis 3:8-19 describes the consequences of believing a lie.  We should all do well to remember that we are in this world, but there is another world to come where certain people are not allowed into the city, as recorded in Revelations 22:15“For outside are dogs, and sorcerers, and fornicators, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.” Whosoever loveth and maketh a lie can be examined thus:
Loveth a lie

– The love of a lie is so common today. It is the absolute hate of the truth. When you hear that hell is not real or does not exist, immoral living is only earthly and has nothing to do with life after death–denying the word of God–and you believe and act on such information; you are believing and loving a lie. Make sure whatever you love is not contrary to the word of God.

Maketh a lie

– To make a thing, means you are the architect, originator. The devil can be behind it or the Lord. But when it comes to making a lie, only the devil, the father of lies is behind it, not the Lord. Now when you make, tell or originate a lie it is the spirit of the devil at work. People stay in a corner and imagine evil against a person, design false information about a person or situation (MAKETH) and proceed to use it to cause damage and glorify Satan. The bible talks about people who love and make a LIE, if you are one of such, repent or be left outside where there are dogs, murderers, idolaters, fornicators and so on.

INSTANCES OF LIES

  1. Acts 5:1-11, Ananias and Sapphira lied in a very common manner like many people do today. They took it upon themselves to sell their property and promised to bring in the total proceeds to the church and the apostles. But they had a second thought and kept back part of the sale amount of the property. We as Christians must bear in mind that when we are dealing with fellow believers that Christ Jesus lives in all of us; and when we lie, remember that Jesus Christ see it all. HE is the one that dwells in us all. He promised us that where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I in the midst of them (Matt. 18:20). Ananias and his wife thought they were dealing with ordinary men and could get away with telling a lie, but the church was in a revival and the Holy Spirit was at work. When you lie, you are in fact lying to God. All that they could have done was tell sthe truth and they could have avoided death. We are in the last days, the Holy Spirit is at work with the revival called, “the quick short work” and one thing to avoid is lying, remember Ananias and his wife Sapphira.
  2. Revelation 21:8 reads, “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and fornicators, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.” This verse of the holy bible clearly shows how seriously God considers telling of lies. You can see for yourself the kind of company that liars belong in God’s eyes: a). Fearful persons: fear is a destroyer and is devoid of trust b) Unbelieving: this has to do with a person’s reaction to the word of God in every situation, c) Abominable: this clearly indicates that liars are also abominable before God. They are like idolaters, d) Murderers: liars are in the same standing as murderers and this is a serious issue, God hates it, e) Fornicators: and liars are always inseparable and so also all members of these unfortunate groups, f) Sorcerers: these have put their confidence in another god, instead of the only wise God, Jesus Christ, and g) Idolaters: these are they that have chosen to worship other gods instead of the true living God. Idolatry comes in many forms; some worship material things like their homes, cars, careers, children, spouses, money, gurus and so on. Some people coat lies with diplomacy and psychology; but know for sure sin is sin and your conscience will not deny it even if you do.

Remember unbelief in the WORD is the worst sin, he who believes is not condemned but he who does not believe is condemned already (St. John 1:1-14).. Jesus Christ was and is and will ever be the WORD OF GOD.

Lies rob you, of self-confidence and brings you shame. The devil is delighted, and you generally lose trust in God. The worst fact is that God leaves these people including the LIARS outside his fold and land them with second death, in the LAKE OF FIRE. Finally, we need to study 2nd Corinthians 5:11 which reads, “Knowing, therefore, the terror of the Lord, we persuade men,” to turn to God in true repentance, accepting the gift of God, the Lord Jesus Christ the Lord of glory.

Psalms 101:7, states, “He that worketh deceit shall not dwell within my house: he that telleth lies shall not tarry in my sight. This is the word of God. This is the way God sees a liar.

But repentance is possible, just come to Jesus Christ and cry out for mercy. Ask him to forgive you and stay and obey his word. Whenever you tell or love a lie you put a smile on Satan’s face, and he encourages you to continue in that path, knowing that both of you may likely end up in the lake of fire–his permanent home. But the Lord Jesus Christ looks at you and puts godly sorrow into your heart that brings you to repentance, according to 2nd Corinthians 7:10.

Psalms 120:2 reads, “Deliver my soul, O Lord, from lying lips, and from a deceitful tongue.” Ask yourself is there a particular sin that is acceptable and does not come into judgment? SIN IS SIN AND WILL COME INTO JUDGMENT SOON. TELLING LIES IS COMMON AND ACCEPTABLE TO DAY: BUT NOT ACCORDING TO THE WORD OF GOD.

I encourage you to study Matt 12:34-37, for the words of man come from within; whether truth or lie: But I say unto you, “That every idle word that man shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. For by your words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.” Your words can be lies or truths; but some people love and make a lie: Very common today in politics and religion. Yes, be sure the time has come that judgment will start in the house of God, 1st Peter 4:17.
