My reward is with Me to give
Meditate about these things
Jesus Christ while closing the book of Revelations dropped very few but important and powerful information. Two of those are found in Rev. 22: 7,12, 16 and 20. The first had to do with three repetitions of the same thing, to declare its urgency and level of importance; and that is, “Behold I come quickly, Behold I come quickly and Surely I come quickly. If God makes this kind of statement and it does not get you thinking and acting then something may be wrong with you.
Quickly means, with speed; rapidly, very soon, swiftly, promptly.
The next is found in verse 12 also in relation to the first, “And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.” What work is the Lord talking about here, one may ask; and He tied it to Behold I come quickly.
Mark 13:34 reads, “For the Son of man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority (Mark 16:15-20) to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch.” He gave every man his work. Also in Matt. 25:14-46.
Remember according to 1st Cor. 3:13-15, “Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is. If a man’s work abides which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. (My reward is with me to give every man according to their work shall be). If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.”
The Lord was talking to believers, some of whose work was burned, but they were saved, as by fire. As believers we must watch and do the work which He has given to each of us by the Holy Spirit. The Lord God is coming back and his reward is with him to give everyman according as their work shall be. Ever ask yourself, what work has God entrusted to me, and what have I done; for soon He will be back, suddenly and his reward is with him.
Rom. 14:12, tells us, “So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.” Also in Rev. 20:12-13, “And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged, every man according to their works.” Here unbelievers and the lost stand before God and their works come into judgment. But for the believers, the Lord has his reward in his hand to give every man according to their work. How is your work, and will it hold up before God. Your work is not your personal prayer unless the Lord has given you the work of an intercessor. Ii is not giving or singing in the choir etc. Go to God in prayer to find out what work he has given you and be faithful to it. Your work is not carrying another Christians bible while they stroll to the pulpit.
