Have you eaten the bread of God?
The bread of God is not the leaven or mingled bread made with yeast we consume today. There is deceit in anything that is leavened; no matter how good it may appear. In Luke 12:1, Jesus said, “Beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.” Leaven creates or transforms a situation or thing to something, with a degree of falsehood. The devil always mixes the truth with a lie, creating a false sense to deceive, like he did to Eve in the garden; and brought sin because of the leaven of lie. The outcome to Eve and Adam may have been temporarily gratifying but in the long run it was death. Leaven has a deceit to it. Even the disciples of Jesus in Matt. 16:6-12, thought Jesus was talking about natural bread when he told them to beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the Sadducees. Leaven when mentioned brings to mind bread, yeast and baking soda or such materials that cause the dough or bread to rise or increase in size. These are things to watch out for when dealing with Pharisees and Sadducees of today that mingle false doctrines and teachings with the true word of God.
In John 6:31-58, the bread that the children of Israel ate in the wilderness came from God and not Moses. Jesus said, my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven, (verse 32). And verse 49 reads, “Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness and are dead.” They ate the bread in the wilderness but that bread did not give them eternal life. But God the Father, who gave Moses and the children of Israel, the bread in the wilderness that could not give eternal life; at the appointed time sent the real bread of God: “For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven and giveth life unto the world,” (verse 33). This bread is unleavened, has no wrong doctrine or teaching and has no hypocrisy: but is the true word and eternal life.
Have you eaten this bread of life? In verse 35, Jesus said, “I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth in me shall never thirst.” Jesus further said in verse 38, “I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will, but the will of him that sent me.” You can never appreciate what Jesus Christ said here; except you definitely know who the Father is, who Jesus really is, who the Son is indeed and who the Holy Spirit is too. The last time I checked the Godhead, Jesus Christ was and is still the fullness of the Godhead bodily. I am the bread of God, Jesus said. The will of the Father is for the Son to give his body for our bread and his blood for our thirst and cleansing: And we shall hunger and thirst no more if we eat this bread of God. Verse 40 states, “And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life:and I will raise him up at the last day.”
Jesus said, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that believeth on me hath everlasting life. I am the bread of life; (if you have not eaten this bread of God, the bread of life, you do not have eternal life). This is the bread which came down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die, I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live forever and the bread which I shall give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world,” (verses 47-51). The Jews in verse 52 strove among themselves, saying how can a man give us his flesh to eat? The natural and the carnal in mind may not understand the workings of the spirit. That is why it is important to know who Jesus Christ is and the unlimited powers and authority he has above everything created and the spiritual realm.
God is not a man, that He should lie or a son of man that He should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? Or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?” (Num.23:19). And Jesus Christ said, “Heaven and earth shall pass away; but my words shall not pass away,” (Luke 21:33). Do you believe every word that Jesus Christ spoke? Have you eaten the bread of God? The bread that came down from heaven. Are you sure you have eaten that bread and drunk that blood? John 6:47 reads, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that believeth on me hath everlasting life.” And again Jesus said, “It is the Spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit and they are life.” Believest thou in the words of God?
Jesus said, in verse 53,“Verily, verily, I say unto you, except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you.” Furthermore He said, “As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father; so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me: —– he that eateth of this bread shall live forever,” (verses 57-58).
Remember what Jesus Christ told Satan, “It is written that man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God, (Luke 4:4).” In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God: —- And the Word was made flesh, (John 1:1&14). Whoso eateth my flesh and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.”Jesus Christ is the spiritual nourishment which brings eternal life. Jesus said in John 14:6, “I am the way, the truth and the life.” Jesus is not only life now, but eternal life which we receive only by His salvation, and baptism of the Holy Ghost. If you believe the word of God and act upon it, then it becomes bread to you. When you believe the words of Jesus Christ, it is like having a blood transfusion. And remember that life is in the blood, (Leviticus 17:11).
The only way to eat the bread of God or bread of life and drink his blood is to believe and act upon every word of God by faith; and that begins with repentance and salvation. You eat the bread of life daily, as you read the scriptures; believe and act upon the words by faith. The flesh of Jesus Christ is meat indeed, and his blood is drink indeed: that satisfies and gives eternal life to those who will believe all his words in faith. It is good to remember Mark 14:22-24 and 1st Corinthians 11:23-34; The Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed, took bread, and when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, “Take, eat; this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.” After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, “This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.”
Examine and judge yourself when getting ready to eat of the body and drink of the blood of Jesus Christ. When you eat and drink in this manner, it is in obedience to his word, “Do this in remembrance of me.” Nevertheless,”He that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself not discerning the Lord’s body.” The bread of God. Many who eat and drink unworthily are weak, and sickly among you, and many sleep (die). Let the spiritual mind discern the bread of God which came down from heaven and giveth life to those who will believe the word of truth
