The Day of the Lord

The Day of the LordThe Day of the Lord

Praise the Lord. Hallelujah !

This is the day that the Lord has made, that the Lord has made. I will rejoice and be glad in it and be glad in it. Oh, this is the day that the Lord has made. I will rejoice and be glad in it. This is the day, this is the day that the Lord has made. Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord. Hallelujah !

Today, our small message is titled like this. The day of the Lord. Hallelujah ! The day of the Lord. And I want us to go to the beginning of creation and start considering how it started. Amen.

So, we are talking about the day of the Lord. Amen. In the beginning, the Lord had a special day which was called the day of the Lord. He himself said it with his own mouth that this is my day. He called it my holy day, which was the Sabbath day. Praise the Lord. That word is in the beginning. He called that day the Sabbath day, the day of the Lord, my holy day. Amen.

So, when we read, when we read Genesis chapter 2, verse 2 and 3, Exodus 20, verse 8. Amen. And also when we read Isaiah 58, verse 13, you see there the Lord says, If thou turn away thy food from the Sabbath, from deng thy pleasure on my holy day, he called it my holy day. So, it was the day of the Lord, Sabbath day, which was Saturday. Amen. The seventh day. Amen.

Now, something happened along the day. Something happened. Because you can see people today that still respect the Sabbath day, Saturday. They used to go and gather, they go to church on Saturday and they think they are doing the best thing that they can do for the Lord. But can we continue the same way today? That’s the big question. Amen.

That is why I started this message, the day of the Lord. It was also a question a brother asked me here in Togo. I used it in French. I preached it in French. So, maybe it will help someone also. So, shall we continue the same way today, saying that Saturday is the day of the Lord ? Amen.

When Jesus came, when we read Matthew chapter 12, from verse 1 to verse 8, you see what was forbidden during the days of Sabbath, he was doing it with his disciples because they were hungry. And he told them he is the Lord of the Sabbath. Amen. He said he is the Lord of the Sabbath. In Matthew chapter 12 verse 8. But today we can see, it’s like there is confusion. Some people say on Sunday. Some people say on Saturday. Those who say on Sunday, it’s because they say Jesus resurrected on the first day of the week, which is a Sunday. When you see the following passages, you see Jesus rose or resurrected on the first day of the week, a Sunday. Amen. You can see Mark 16 verse 9, Luke 24 verse 1, John 20 verse 1. Amen. And they say it is the day of the Lord because he resurrected on that day. Amen.

Now what happened? Why is it that Jesus, who is the Lord of Sabbath, when he came, he did not respect that Sabbath with his disciples ? Because he was hungry and they started plucking the ears of the corns and started eating them. And the Pharisees, the religious groups, they got angry.

Why is it that he did not respect that day? Amen. It was because since a certain time, days have shifted. Days have been shortened. Amen. Since the day of Joshua. Since the day of Joshua. This is what happened. Amen. In the beginning, the Lord said, let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven. Let there be for signs and for seasons and for days and years. So before we talk about years, we should start with seconds, minutes, hours, days, months, years. Do you see ? So all those things depend on the lights in the firmament. The sun, the moon, the stars, etc. Amen. But something happened in the days of Joshua. Amen. The Bible records that Joshua asked God to stop the sun and the moon during a battle. Amen. Read Joshua 10 verse 12 to 14. That’s what happened there. Amen.

So God granted Joshua more time to complete his own victory over the Amorites. It is presented as an extraordinary miracle in which God intervened on their behalf, on the behalf of Israel. Amen.

So Joshua asked that the sun stand still and God perform a miracle to give Israel the victory. It was about a whole day. So the day was shortened at that time because of Joshua and the people of Israel. Amen. They were like the elect at that time. It happened also in the days of Hezekiah, the king, that the Lord said he is about to die. He should prepare his house. He should set his house in order because it’s time for him to go. And he said no. He asked the Lord to add 15 years to his years. And it happened. He was asking a sign from the Lord. Amen. Hezekiah, he was very sick. God has promised to heal him and add 15 years to his life. So Hezekiah asked for a confirming sign. And God caused the shadow to move backward 10 degrees on the sundial of Ahaz. Amen. And it happened. The days were also shortened there. Praise the Lord. Hallelujah. It is in 2 Kings chapter 20 verse 8 to 11 and Isaiah 38 verse 7 to 8. You can see there. So because the days have shifted or have been shortened, we cannot say with assurance today that when I’m talking, this day is really Monday or Tuesday. No, no, no, no.

The Lord did it to do what? To save his elect. And he promised to do it again during the great tribulation. He said except those days should be shortened, there should be no flesh saved. Amen. So it’s not something new. He will do it again. This is Matthew 24 verse 22. Mark 13 verse 20. Because of the elect, the days will be shortened again. Just like in the day of Joshua and Hezekiah. Praise the Lord. So we cannot say today is Saturday. We don’t know the original Saturday today. Praise the Lord. We don’t know the original Sunday today. Hallelujah.

What is the meaning of the day of the Lord ? Praise the Lord. What is the meaning ? Because of these shifts in time, even neighboring countries did not share the same clock time with us. You can take the example of Togo and Benin. Even Nigeria and Togo. They don’t have the same time. Amen. When it is daytime in one place, it is nighttime elsewhere. We can no longer say with absolute precision that a particular day is exactly that it was at the beginning. We cannot truly know with assurance whether today is Sunday or let’s say Thursday. Praise the Lord. Nobody can prove it.

Hallelujah. Therefore, the day of the Lord is no longer tied to a fixed day. But rather it refers to the day when the Lord Himself chooses to manifest Himself in judgment, in salvation, in deliverance or in a miracle. Praise the Lord. The day of the Lord refers to His appearing in rapture or translation, in tribulation, in judgment. Amen. The day of the Lord simply means the day on which the Lord Himself manifests for a particular purpose or for a particular work. Praise the Lord. Hallelujah.

That is why you have to be very careful. We don’t know when that day of the Lord will come to us. For some people, when they die today, the day of the Lord has come to them. Amen. There’s a proverb that says a thousand days for the thief but only one day for the owner. People are doing anything they like today but there’s a day coming and that day can be today. Amen. That day can be today. You can see the different examples of the days of the Lord.

You can see Isaiah 13 verse 6 and 9 against Babylon. You can see there it was the day of wrath and anger. You can see in Ezekiel chapter 13 verse 3 it was against Egypt. It says for the day is near. Even the day of the Lord is near. A cloudy day. Amos 5 verse 18 to 20. Woe unto you that desire the day of the Lord. It shall be darkness and not light. This is for the wicked people. If you don’t repent now, the day of the Lord will not be glorious to you. For those who repent, the day of the Lord will be glorious to them. Praise the Lord. Joel 2 verse 1, verse 11 and 31. You can read it there about the day of the Lord. Even Peter mentioned it in Acts 2 verse 20 concerning Christ’s return. Amen. You can read Zephaniah 1 verse 14, 15 and 18. The great day of the Lord is near. A day of wrath. Amen. It says neither their silver nor their gold shall be able to deliver them in the day of the Lord’s wrath. No matter what you have today, if you don’t repent, that day of the Lord you cannot deliver yourself. Malachi 4 verse 5. 2 Peter 3 verse 10. But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night. This is about translation or rapture. 1 Thessalonians 5 verse 2. For yourself know perfectly that the day of the Lord shall come as a thief in the night.

That’s why you should repent and get ready. Now, now. So, that’s why Jesus said something in Matthew 24 verse 36. He said, but of that day. Many don’t understand this one. He said, but of that day and hour knoweth no man. Because days have shifted. Amen. He did it to trouble Satan. God did it to trouble Satan. He cannot know the day of his coming. You see, no one knows that day, nor the hour. Amen. That’s why I say, watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour. Matthew 25 verse 13.

Amen. So, Romans 14 verse 5. Nobody need to judge his neighbor about Sunday or Saturday. Because we don’t know if they are still the original day of the beginning. If someone choose to worship the Lord, every day is the day of the Lord now. Every day is the day of the Lord. Because the day of the Lord is the day in which he manifests himself for a particular purpose.

He can choose to manifest himself to you today through this message. Are you ready ? That’s the question. Are you ready? That’s why Romans 14 verse 5 says, One esteem one day above another. Another esteem every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind. Amen. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind. Amen. The day of the Lord. John say, I John was in the isle of, that is called Patmos. I was in the spirit on the last day. What day was that ? He says he was in the spirit on the day of the Lord. Amen. It may be the day where the Lord chose to do what ? To reveal himself to him. We can say it like that. But it was in a particular day. We don’t know. Praise the Lord. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Hallelujah.

When you are worshipping the Lord, you are repented, you are being converted, the day of the Lord that is coming to rapture us because the day of the Lord also is in the rapture. It will be a good day for you. Amen.

Abraham, when you see Abraham, the Bible says your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day and he saw it and was glad. Praise the Lord. He rejoiced to see the day of the Lord and he saw it and he was glad. At which time did Abraham see the day of the Lord ? In Genesis 18, let’s read just verse 10. I will certainly return unto thee, the Lord was speaking to him, according to the time of life, and lo, say that thy wife shall have a son. So the Lord manifested himself unto him on that day for a miracle. Praise the Lord. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. It was the day of the Lord to Abraham. Therefore, John 8, verse 56 is the verse that shows clearly that Abraham rejoiced to see the day of the Lord.

Today may be the day of the Lord in your life, in my life, but are you in the right condition to receive him ? This is a short message I want to pass right now. Amen !Today is the Day, The day of the Lord. Amen.Jesus is coming very soon. God bless you in Jesus mighty name. Amen. Amen.
