Joy is more than a great pleasure and happiness for a believer in Jesus Christ. Joy of a true believer is limitless, it is life defining. It requires the utmost surrender and, like love, it is a choice to be made. Real joy comes with the fruit of the Spirit; (Galatians 5:22-23.)

  1. a) Luke  1:41; And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost:

Luke 15:7, 10; I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance. Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.

Matt. 2:10; When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy.

Luke 2: 10, 20; And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them.

Luke 10:17: 17 And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name.

Matt. 28:8: And they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy; and did run to bring his disciples word.

Luke 24:41, 52: And while they yet believed not for joy, and wondered, he said unto them, Have ye here any meat? And they worshipped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy:

John 15:11: These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.

Acts 3:8: And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God.

Acts 13:52: And the disciples were filled with joy, and with the Holy Ghost.

2nd Corinthians 2:4: For out of much affliction and anguish of heart I wrote unto you with many tears; not that ye should be grieved, but that ye might know the love which I have more abundantly unto you.

1st Peter 1:8: Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:

Heb. 12:2: Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees;
